BAM’s ranking among all UK companies was 70, up 10 places from when it last participated in 2011. No other major contractor was ranked in the top 100. BAM also designs and develops property, and manages facilities.

The award was sought by 896 companies and the rankings are determined by the results of a survey of a randomly selected sample of half the employees in each company which enters.

Graham Cash, Chief Executive, said:

‘This is a substantial achievement, particularly in the light of the difficult circumstances presented by the recession. I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone who took part in the survey and helped us to achieve this great result.’

The ranking follows BAM appearing top of the Government’s UK-wide CRC table (for reducing carbon emissions) last week.

The Best Companies to Work For highlights several reasons for BAM’s high ranking: ‘Staff say it genuinely cares for the environment’, it puts something back into local communities, highlighting BAM’s work for Barnardo’s, staff feel they are being treated fairly, and trained.
