Based at BAM’s offices in Glasgow, Richard joins the development team to head up all retail development in the UK. BAM is seeking to acquire shopping centres and high street retail with opportunities to add value through re-engineering the existing space, major refurbishment, extension, redevelopment or new build. The requirement will be UK wide and for properties up to £100m to capitalise on BAM’s 25 year track record in retail projects the most recent being Wellgate in Dundee.

Richard joined the company from Schroders where he was a Fund Manager following posts at Prudential Property Investment Managers and Standard Life Investments. He has a Masters degree in Land Economy from Aberdeen University and is a qualified surveyor. Richard started with the retail team at Standard Life in Edinburgh as an asset manager in 1995, before becoming an investment and fund manager for Prudential, principally retail, before becoming a transactions manager and a fund manager at Schroders from 2003.

  Richard, who is 35 and is married with two children, splits his time between London and Glasgow. He is a member of the Royal Academy of Arts and enjoys sailing, rugby and cricket. BAM Properties is the property development arm of BAM UK Ltd and has a current development portfolio with a projected end value of £400 million. It operates from seven regional offices in Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, and Manchester.
