Despite the tough economic times facing the construction industry, support has proven strong for BAM Construct UK’s UK-wide nine-leg 900-mile cycling tour of the UK in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Every part of BAM’s integrated business is taking part – contractors, facilities managers, property developers, plant managers, engineers, and architects. Each region within BAM Construct’s businesses has won the backing of two sub-contractors and many well-known names have pledged their backing.

Getjar is sponsoring the London team’s leg to St Albans; Parkstone is backing the Midlands team on its gruelling cycle to Manchester; and Lorne Stewart is behind the Western team as it sets off from Exeter on the first leg on Monday September 2nd. Balfour Beatty Engineering Services has sponsored the North West team’s cross-Pennines leg to Leeds.

Ellie Jenkins, BAM’s Community Engagement Manager, said:

“We have had so many kind donations coming in already, we are very grateful for the generous support of our supply chain across the UK. BAM has matched the donations made by sponsors to help ensure we raise as much as possible to support Macmillan’s nurses.”

BAM is hoping its cycle will also promote the Considerate Constructors’ Scheme’s current “spotlight on cycling safety”.

A full list of the others sponsors so far: Dribuild, Horohoe, Halsion, J&P Carpentry and Joinery, Birmingham Tile & Mosaic Company, MSS, Sound Interiors Limited, Henshaw, TBS, D&A Decorators Limited, Ground Control.
