What to expect as an apprentice
From day one, you’ll be part of something real.
You’ll split your time between hands-on work and academic study, applying what you learn directly to live projects. Every day brings new challenges and new skills, and you’ll be supported by mentors and colleagues who are invested in helping you succeed.
You’ll develop both technical expertise and professional confidence, getting practical insight into how buildings, infrastructure and sustainable places come to life. Along the way, you’ll contribute to projects that make a tangible difference to people’s lives and communities, projects you can point to and say ‘I helped to build that’.

When and how do I apply?
Our apprenticeship programmes run on a yearly cycle:
- Recruitment for our Technical apprenticeship programme opens in December every year, with successful candidates starting the following September
- The application window for our Trades apprenticeship programme opens in March, with recruits starting in September
- Applications for our Scotland graduate apprenticeship programmes also open in February, with successful candidates beginning in September
