BAM reaches major milestone on landmark TUS Applied Science & IT Building

BAM has reached a significant milestone on the new Applied Science and Information Technology (ASIT) Building at the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) Moylish Campus in Limerick, with the project recently topping out.

The milestone was marked during a visit by Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science James Lawless TD, who laid a ceremonial brick to celebrate progress on the five-storey, 5,200m² development.

As main contractor, BAM is delivering the state-of-the-art facility, creating a modern learning and research environment for students, academics and researchers. Located at the heart of the Moylish Campus, once complete, it will feature specialist science laboratories, modern computer suites, flexible teaching areas, a large lecture theatre and academic offices, helping to strengthen Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematical (STEM) education and research capacity across the region.

"Reaching the topping-out stage is a significant achievement for everyone involved in the project and reflects the strong collaboration with the NDFA, Invesis, TUS Moylish and all project stakeholders.

Darren went on to say: "It's rewarding to see this new facility taking shape and the opportunities it will create for future students, researchers and staff. We look forward to continuing our work with our partners as the project progresses towards completion in 2027."

The project commenced in 2025 and is scheduled for completion in 2027. It forms part of the second phase of Ireland's Higher Education Public Private Partnership Programme, which is delivering modern STEM facilities across multiple third-level institutions nationwide.

The new facility will support capacity for approximately 700 additional students and play a key role in addressing future skills needs across the Mid-West and beyond.

The topping-out ceremony marks another important step forward in the delivery of modern, sustainable educational infrastructure across Ireland and reinforces BAM's continued commitment to creating high-quality environments that enable people and communities to thrive.
