BAM delivers landmark new home for Greystones Community College

€48 million educational facility delivered by BAM will serve future generations of students in County Wicklow.

Greystones Community College celebrated the official opening of its new purpose-built campus, marking a landmark moment for the school and the wider Greystones community. Tánaiste and Minister for Finance Simon Harris TD and Minister for Education Hildegarde Naughton TD joined students, staff, parents and community representatives for the occasion.

Delivered by BAM on behalf of the Department of Education and Youth, the €48 million development provides a modern, inclusive and sustainable learning environment for up to 1,000 students. The new campus gives Greystones Community College a permanent home following its establishment in 2020 and supports the growing demand for post-primary education across Greystones and the surrounding area.

Construction began following the turning of the sod in August 2024, with the building reaching full completion in February 2026.

The 11,000m² campus, set on a 12-acre site, includes more than 50 classrooms, six science laboratories and a wide range of specialist teaching spaces, including facilities for Technology, Construction Studies, Design Communication Graphics, Multimedia, Art, Music and Home Economics. It also features dedicated SEN class hubs, a library, social learning spaces, a sports centre, fitness suite and outdoor recreation facilities, creating an environment designed to support both academic achievement and student wellbeing.

Tánaiste Simon Harris TD, Minister for Finance who formally declared Greystones Community College open, said:

"Today is a milestone achievement and one that everyone in Wicklow can be proud of. I want to thank Principal Ruairí Farrell and his leadership team, the teachers and staff, the Board of Management, KWETB, the Department of Education and Youth and BAM, who have delivered a campus this town can be proud of for generations. Most of all I want to thank the students themselves and the parents and families of Greystones and Delgany whose advocacy and determination made this happen.

This campus is a great investment in the future of Greystones, Delgany and the wider area. As a Greystones native, it was a privilege to declare it officially open."

Designed and built to meet the needs of a rapidly growing school community, the development brings students and staff together on a single campus after several years operating from temporary accommodation across multiple locations. The project showcases BAM's expertise in delivering high-quality educational facilities through modern methods of construction and sustainable building solutions, creating a future-focused environment that will benefit generations of learners.
