It’s a long journey from a site work placement from college in 1988 to being appointed Executive Director of BAM Construct UK
In the intervening years, Doug has held every operational role in our business, from trainee site manager, to Construction Manager supervising the delivery of over 100 new superstore projects across the UK for a major retailer, to Construction Director for the West of Scotland responsible for the delivery of high profile projects in the office, education and leisure sectors. He led our construction business in Scotland as regional director from 2013 before joining the Board of BAM Construct UK in August 2016.
On the Board, Doug is joint managing director of our construction business along with James Wimpenny and has particular responsibility for overseeing our construction divisions in Scotland, the West country, and the South East. He also leads on health and safety and the development of BAM Plant.
He is the third generation of his family to be involved in the construction industry. A keen outdoors man, in 2014 he successfully completed the 43 mile Devil O’The Highlands Footrace for Macmillan Cancer Support.
