BAM is creating the Centre for Learning and Teaching for the University of Southampton.
The new building which has commenced construction, will include a 250 seat lecture theatre, a range of seminar and teaching rooms, independent study space, a computer suite and a café. The seven storey building is set across two wings.
BAM has already been active on the site at Salisbury Road under an early works contract. This has prepared the site for development by reconfiguring car parking on Salisbury Road, diverting underground services and demolishing Building 58a.
The construction value is £35.6 million and BAM was chosen following a competitive two-stage design and build tender process.
The Centre is scheduled to open early in 2019 and forms part of a long term major masterplan, which recently saw the conclusion of Chamberlain Hall of Residence and Boldrewood Innovation Campus.
