One of Britain’s fastest growing facilities management companies has a new Director. BAM FM manages facilities for around 30 UK schools and is part of Britain’s largest health and education contractor, BAM Construct UK. It has appointed David Leishman who was previously Commercial Director for BAM Construction in Scotland.   BAM FM is a young business but has quickly grown to manage many of the facilities including catering, cleaning, managing sports facilities, energy and other services. Its contracts are predominantly within the public sectors of health and education.   David joined the company in 1982 as a quantity surveyor. He brings over 34 years of commercial and construction experience to a role which he describes as being as ‘exciting as it is challenging’.   ‘BAM FM is a flourishing business in great shape,’ says David. ‘The challenge for me isn’t about change, but how we build on what has already been achieved over the last nine years and to continue BAM FM’s journey towards its full potential. Over the next three years, the company’s objective is to increase its turnover from £25m to £40m.’   Most recently, BAM FM has been successful in securing FM service contracts in the public sector through its collaborative approach with its BAM-related companies.. Explains David: ‘We are now in a strong position to drive our business forward, and to develop, and deliver, new opportunities. This includes taking our BAM-related portfolio out to the external market where there’s great potential for us to broaden our market penetration even further. It’s going to be an exciting challenge for us.’   David, from Larbert in Scotland, is primarily based at the company’s Glasgow offices where he now heads BAM FM’s 650-strong nationwide team serving contracts all over the UK.
