There are just a few days left for Hull residents to sign up for a tour of BAM Construction’s Brynmor Jones Library site, which will open up its doors to the public this month.

BAM Construction is participating in Open Doors Weekend 2013, a construction industry initiative that gives members of the public from all across the UK the opportunity to go on a tour of a site in their area.

The University of Hull’s Brynmor Jones Library will be open on 27 and 28 September for the public to take a tour and to learn more about the project, its development and the world of construction. But places are limited so anyone interested must register online before the event to avoid missing out.

BAM is the main contractor for the multi-million pound redevelopment of the library. The project involves upgrading the building inside and out to create a modern, flexible, technology-enabled learning environment.

BAM construction manager Matthew Garnett said: “BAM is delighted to be bringing this impressive and historic library to the forefront of modern design and technology. As always we are working to ensure we benefit the local economy and environment as well as the students of the university.

“It is fantastic to be able to welcome local residents to the site to give them a taste of what we are doing for Hull, and how modern construction projects come together.”

Open Doors Weekend is an industry initiative to present the sector in an engaging and interesting way and showcase the varied, dynamic and exciting career opportunities that construction has to offer. The project will also demonstrate the importance of construction to both the national and regional economies.

The scheme is the result of a partnership of four leading industry bodies, UK Construction Group (UKCG), CITB-ConstructionSkills, The Considerate Constructors Scheme and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
