BAM Construction secures a place on all areas of the North East's new 'YORbuild' construction framework

03 Dec, 2009

BAM Construction's North East team has secured a place on all four areas of the new YORbuild construction framework, announced today. The BAM team which has its head office in Leeds - is one of just two firms to secure a place for contracts valued over £10 million on all areas of the framework.

The new framework covers local authority procurement for buildings across four areas of Yorkshire and Humberside and is stated to be worth around £1.2billion per annum.

James Wimpenny, Director of BAM Construction North East, said,

'This is an especially significant framework not just because of its financial impact, but because of the range of construction projects that it covers.

'The extent of the framework means significant regeneration and employment across the North East and the nature of this sort of agreement is well suited to a company like BAM because our approach is based on developing practical partnerships with clients, their communities, and architects for example.

'Construction is a fiercely competitive market and although a position on the framework does not guarantee any specific projects - more hard work is needed for that we are now in a position to help regenerate Yorkshire and Humberside which is an excellent result for us.'

BAM Construction is known for many projects in the North East, from prestige restorations such as the award-winning Harrogate Royal Hall, to its many universities and education buildings (it is delivering four new buildings for the University of York for example), and its current work on Headingley Carnegie Pavilion.  In Hull , it recently completed the £90 million St Stephens Development winning its manager an industry gold medal. It also has significant workloads in Sheffield and Newcastle and has just commenced work on restoring Leeds City Varieties.
